Full member
Authorised to practice midwifery by an approved registration body within Australia, may vote at any general meeting of the Association or the College. And may be elected to represent the Association on the Executive Committee of the College.
Student member
Must be undertaking an approved course leading to authority to practice midwifery. May vote at any general meeting of the Association or the College and can be elected to the Executive Committee of the Association. Can be appointed to represent students on the Executive Committee of the College.
Consumer member
Must be a woman who is or has been a recipient of midwifery care, and is not a midwife. May vote at any general meeting of the Association or the College, and may be elected to the Executive Committee of the Association.
A consumer member may be elected to represent the Association on the Executive Committee of the College.
Associate member
A midwife who is currently unwaged or non practicing is eligible membership in this category. An unwaged or non practising member may not vote at general meetings of the Association. Any person who is not a midwife but is interested in the provision of maternity services is qualified for associate membership of the Association. An associate member may not vote at general meetings of the Association.
